Grill your meat!

We've got lots of great and humane choices for grilling!

Memorial Day brings us yet another reason to gather around a grill and celebrate. Wheatsville is just the place to stock up on your delectables for the weekend.

Our Niman Ranch 70/30 Ground Beef makes a great burger and also comes in a family pack.  You could add some 90/10 Ground Round to cut down on fat, or Ground Sirloin for a bigger beefier flavor. If you need to grab and go we've got our Windy Bar Ranch Bacon Cheddar Burger. Also great for grilling and very popular here are Wheatsville Turkey Burgers. On the even lighter side we have our own Salmon Burgers. Windy Bar Ranch has a great Local ground beef that we carry in the freezer for $5.99/lb. These are sold in a two pound package and make great burgers.

Do you like pork Ribs? Of course you do. We have Niman Ranch Baby Back Ribs. We have them as a pair of whole ribs and broken down for a smaller portion if that suits your needs better. Maybe Kabobs tickle your fancy. We will be bringing back Chicken Kabobs in the quick to fix case, and we now have some pre packed veggies with the Lamb, Beef, and Pork Kabob cuts.

Sausage? We have several good grilling sausages from Niman Ranch.  Andouille would work on its own or as a character in your favorite Cajun dishes. The Sweet Italian Sausage, great by itself, but works paired up with pasta and in meat sauces. The Apple Gouda Sausage is one of my favorites. New to the store is the Niman Ranch Thai Style Sausage. Spicy with those lingering eastern flavors this is a unique artisanal sausage that taste great and grills great. Don't forget Wheatsville's in house made sausage. Made from Niman Ranch beef and pork, Our Hot Italian and Sweet Italian, Breakfast, and Chorizo sausages are great by themselves, or better yet, grilled and then added to other dishes to help bring that smoky grill flavor to your pasta or sauce or eggs or jambalaya or even paella.  Our spicyCilantro Lime Chicken Patties can serve as sausage in every capacity. Look for some new chicken sausages down the road. As a matter of fact keep an eye out for new sausages as we get into summer.

Our newest additions to the seafood team, P. E. I. Mussels and Littleneck Clams are nice tossed on the grill. Just keep them there until they open, and remember to discard any mussels or clams that do not open. The Yellowfin Tuna is back on sale for $8.99/lb reg. $10.99/lb. Also on sale in the seafood family is Trollerpoint Sablefish for $14.99/lb reg. $18.99/lb. This guy has one of the highest ratios of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids. Just grill, skin side down, until the flesh starts to flake at the touch of a fork and enjoy its rich natural butter flavor.

There are some new frozen Seafood options. Ahi Tuna Steaks @ $4.99Flounder Filets @ $5.99 and Mahi Mahi Filets @ $7.99.These are two to a pack and individually frozen and wrapped. These are sustainable and brought to us by Orca Bay. Here is a link to their websitehttp://orcabayseafoods.com/and I highly recommend checking it out. Lastly, we have Fish Frames @.99/lb. The Salmon Frames will make a nice fish stock or you can always use them in the garden. Just bury them at one end of the garden about a foot deep and worms should take care of the rest odor free.

Also new in the Freezer is Bastrop Cattle Co. T-bone Steaks@12.99/lbIf you're feeling up to more of a challenge we have brought in Bastrop Cattle Co. Beef Tenderloin @$26.99/lb. reg. $28.99.

When you're over by the freezer you might see some new faces inside. There are a couple new gluten free options. Ian's GF Fish Sticks @ $5.49, and Applegate Farms GF Chicken Nuggets @ $5.99. Also from Applegate Farms Chicken and Sage Breakfast Sausage @ $5.79.
