Fruitful Hill Farm Local Eggs, Smithville, TX
Ringger Family Farm started in Bastrop County in 2002 with a primary farm enterprise in raising pastured laying hens, along with a few dairy and meat goats. The chickens are moved about once a week to a new section of pasture so they get new grass and bugs to eat, in a method known as rotational grazing. An "egg-mobile" is moved along with the chickens so that they have a place to lay the eggs, and some protection from the wind and sun. Moving them across pasture also provides for a more evenly distributed return of fertilizer to the soil. Their diet is supplemented with high quality, high-variety feed and organic vitamins and minerals; no chemicals or hormones are used on either the chickens or the pasture. Fruitful Hill Farm is located in Smithville, Texas, about an hour southeast of Austin. 12ct, Reg. $4.69
