Rainy weekend, might as well shop for groceries and EARTH WEEK!

I hope the weather report is wrong, but it looks like it might be a rainy one. Bright side is that it will be cool enough to cook! So, maybe get yourself some chili fixings or maybe even get some late season baking done! We won't have too many more weekends before it's summer to actually fire up our ovens, right?!?

While we celebrate Earth Day year round at Wheatsville, we do like to acknowledge Earth Day and Earth Week and it's NOW!

We are a major sponsor of the Earth Week events with our friends at Austin Green Art! Check out the events here!

And, our pals at Slow Money Austin are hosting the first Slow Money Austin conference next Wednesday and we'll be there! I'll be talking about co-ops on a panel with friends like Patty Jacobs of Bastrop Cattle Company, Steven Yarak of Black Star Co-op and others. For more information click here!

Krazy for Krackers!

News from Bryan, our butcher!

I was able to tour the Windy Bar cattle ranch last Saturday. We spent the day meeting Michael Kline owner of Windy Bar in Stonewall Texas. I was really impressed with the level of care Mr. Kline has for his land and animals, both of which he owns. They practice proper pasture management, and have grown very lush pastures of native Texas grasses and legumes. They are also keen on animal welfare, and are well read on modern trends for sustainable agriculture. I'll be writing more about them in the future. If you're interested we're selling the skirt steaks (fajitas) for $8.99 lb, along with some offal cuts in the freezer. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I personally like what the folks at Windy Bar are doing and I think they make a nice addition to our family of products.

Getting ready for a BBQ? Pick up some premade chicken kabobs made with local Buddy's chicken for $7.99 lb. Our fresh made sausages are always great cooked on the grill, try them! Sweet & Hot Italian, chorizo, breakfast style country sausage all flavors $7.99 lb.
