WHEATSVILLE’S ONE BIG THING

Every week, Wheatsville staff picks the product we’re most excited about right now!

Uncle Matt's Organic Lemonade!

Why do we love it?

1. It feels like summer, what better way to quench your thirst than an iced cold lemonade!

2. It's organic!

3. It pairs great with other summer favorites like strawberries and watermelon!

Sweet love!

Parting is such sweet sorrow, especially when we're talking about Cara Cara Navel Oranges. This citrus season has been absolutely amazing which is why they are our produce pick of the week! They won't be around much longer, so enjoy them while you can!

The other item we're crazy about this week (well actually it's been a few weeks) is our local Buena Tierra Bunched Basil. Spring is barely a blink in Texas but that just means we're already enjoying one of our favorite summer herbs. Delicious ribboned into salads or pasta - this basil has us dreaming of summers filled with perfectly ripe, freshly picked tomatoes.

Sweet, Sweet Serrano

Our Staff Favorite Sweet Serrano Salsa returns to the Wheatsville Deli!

Sweet Serrano Salsa is back! Sweet peaches & spicy serrano peppers are mixed with vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh cilantro & red onions to create an irresistible salsa! What's for dinner?

New to the Seafood case we have Texas Gulf Black Drum.  This fish is mild and versatile. It is flat enough to easily roll up with a savory stuffing. Saute some lacinato kale with butter and garlic and spread it on the skin side of the filet. Drizzle some of the garlic butter on top of the rolled fish and sprinkle some panko bread crumbs on it. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes (until the flesh starts to flake apart  easily with a fork).

Need a quick, tasty dinner? Try out one of the Niman Ranch Beef Entrees. Niman Ranch is dedicated to keeping family farms on their land by paying a premium market price to their farmers who maintain stringent welfare and quality standards. These heat and serve dishes are another way to help support those farms. We offer the Pot Roast in Pomodoro Sauce and Beef Tips in Provencal Sauce. Just grab some sides from the Wheatsville deli and you’ve got a great, easy meal.

We’ve also got some great new products in the freezer. The Blue Horizon Salmon Burgers are a great quick and easy way to eat some sustainable seafood. There are two burgers per package that you cook from their frozen state. They can even be grilled. We have them in two flavors, a Surf Burger and a Blue Cheese Burger, $4.99, that’s hard to beat.

Check out our Co-op Deals in the freezer: Henry and Lisa’s Gluten Free Fish Nuggets which are MSC Certified Sustainable. We will also have Organic Prairie Ground Turkey on sale.

Hops & Grain

New local Brewery! Hops & Grain an awesome new Austin brewery, is one of many who have sprung up of late and also one of the best. We now have their Pale Dog Pale Ale and their Alteration Alt in six pack cans.

hand cans beer all day, two beers at a time. Now that is what I call dedication!  Grab a six pack today. You'll be so glad you did!

New at Wheatsville

We work hard to seek out exciting new products and flavors we think our members will love. Here’s what’s new at Wheatsville this week.

DeLallo pasta is hand made in Italy using semolina flour, a granular flour milled from durum wheat. Since dried pasta is made solely from wheat and water (naturally), a great pasta depends on its process. DeLallo pastas are made with the use of bronze dies, which create a pasta with a rougher, grainier texture. This allows the sauce (or even just extra virgin olive oil) to hug your pasta, marrying their flavors to give you the best in each bite. Smooth pasta doesn't stand a chance!
16oz, Reg. $2.99-4.39

Like ribbons meant for wrapping a special package, mafalda are a flat, moderately wide, long pasta with ruffled edges, a lasagna noodle turned supermodel. They make a rather spectacular presentation on the plate, where we especially like them with a rich and meaty Bolognese sauce.
Perciatelli is a southern Italian name for the same pasta cut known elsewhere as bucatini, or hollow spaghetti. Made of high-quality hard durum wheat semolina, perciatelli is like a pliable, delicious drinking straw, and works well with olive oil based sauces such as puttanesca, marinara or arrabbiata.
With a ridged exterior to hold sauce and a cup-like interior to capture chunky meat and small vegetables such as peas, Orecchiette makes the perfect pairing with an olive oil based sauté, where the fine Puglia-grown semolina pasta holds its own among the other ingredients. Your "little ears" will hear lots of compliments on the terrific meal!
Fusilli col Buco are long curly spirals of pasta, like fusilli that never stopped growing until they were as long as spaghetti. You can imagine what a fanciful, even show-stopping display this pasta makes in a large bowl. Don’t be afraid to ladle on your favorite rustic sauce or fresh pesto-fusilli col buco can stand up to any ingredient or sauce.

So irresistible, your usual chocolate fix might get jealous. Indulge yourself with smooth, rich dark chocolate, kissed with a hint of almond.
64oz, Reg. $3.99

Red's All Natural Quesadillas; Bean & Cheese, Pulled Pork, Steak, Buffalo Chicken
Red’s All Natural just went a little further south of the border with the introduction of its new line of all natural quesadillas. Each four and a half oz. quesadilla is crafted with antibiotic and hormone-free meats, and stuffed with the freshest veggies and 100 percent natural beans and spices, all tucked snug between two bakery style tortillas. Available in four delicious new flavors—bean and cheese, pulled pork, steak and buffalo chicken—Red’s quesadillas make for the perfect guilty pleasure…minus the guilt.
9oz, Reg. $3.99

Double Rainbow's all natural, super premium ice creams contain only the freshest and purest ingredients, including cream and milk from cows not treated with hormones. Double Rainbow ice creams are thicker and creamier than other ice creams because excess air is not whipped in, and just the right amount of butterfat ensures that every spoonful tastes rich and delicious. The It's a Goody is our favorite: classic vanilla ice cream complemented with decadent fudge chips and ribbons of peanut butter... Double Rainbow all the way, indeed.
16oz, Reg. $3.79
