Fresh Mint Julep recipe, just in time for the Derby!

Traditional Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Recipe

Ah, the mint julep.  So delicious.  So refreshing.  Ideally, a Kentucky Derby Mint Julep should be drunk from a silver or pewter cup, but you can use a Collins glass in a pinch.

Ingredients:

-        Fresh mint sprigs

-        Bourbon whisky (not Tennessee whisky, not Canadian whisky!)

-        Powdered sugar

-        Water

Method:

Muddle 4 mint sprigs, 1 tsp powdered sugar, and 2 tsp water in a silver or pewter cup.  Fill the cup with shaved or crushed ice and add 2 ½ ounces of bourbon.  Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig.  Serve with a straw.  Enjoy!
