Welcome Winter! Tis the season to party with your Co-op Deli!

Our first Fresh in the Deli treat for December is the Power Salad, courtesy of the Hendersonville Co-op in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Sweet potatoes, pecans, raisins and Granny Smith apples are all dressed up in a yogurt dressing, spiced with cinnamon and sweetened with agave. Serve it alongside a holiday cheese plate, or have some for brunch!

Our second Fresh in the Deli dish is Quinoa with Cashews and Cranberries from our friends at Moscow Food Co-op in Moscow, Idaho. This sassy quinoa salad is tarted up with lemon and dried cranberries and mixed with toasted cashews and fresh mint, making a nice, seasonal side dish when served with roasted meats or poultry.

Warm up with a Frito Pie, made for you by our Deli Counter staff! This hearty meal is on sale for owners, $3.99, reg. $4.49! Come in and get your fix of our award-winning vegan Tempeh Chili spooned over crunchy Fritos and topped, if you so choose, with cheese, onions and jalapenos! Fill ‘er up!

Our house-brewed, staff favorite Gingerade is also on sale for owners, a 16oz cup for just 99¢, reg. $1.69. This incredibly refreshing drink is made with fresh ginger, spices and a blend of three fruit juices, and can be served iced or hot! If you’ve only had it cold, it’s time to try it heated up! It’s an allergy-destroyer and tummy-tenderizer all in one, and boy does it taste good too!

Also this month, the Deli Counter will taunt your tastebuds with our creamy, sweet “Very Berry Christmas” Featured Smoothie! Blending apple juice and soymilk with strawberries, raspberries and banana, this thick and tasty holiday special is just $4.99!

Our new Featured Salsa is Roasted Tomato Salsa! Oven-roasting adds extra sweetness to vine-ripened tomatoes and onions, and smokiness to jalapenos – when hand-blended with some fresh cilantro and lemon juice, they create a very tasty salsa, for just $4.99/lb!

Also on sale at the Deli Counter through the month of December are classic cold cuts: Boar’s Head Smoked Ham at $8.49/lb, reg. $8.99 and Provolone Cheese, $4.99/lb, reg. $5.99 – this combo would make a sweet’n’speedy grilled cheese or omelet addition, so be sure to stock up on your lunchables!

And for those of you looking to limit the gluten in your diet, c’mon in for our Bakery’s Wheat-Free Wednesdays and choose from a scrumptious selection of gluten-free baked goods, like muffins, bars and cakes! Also, be sure to check out our new Bakery table every day in front of the Deli Counter, where you’ll find an assortment of wrapped, sweet treats! And don’t forget to try a loaf of our crusty, yummy, fresh-baked LaBrea artisan breads – have you tried our Sourdough Baguette? Yum!

From 7:30 til 11:00 am every day, the Deli is running a breakfast bar of grab’n’go goodness to start your morning right! Come on over to our hot bar, where you’ll find a variety of freshly made Breakfast Tacos wrapped and ready for you! Now, even when you’re running late, you can stop in for a super-quick and super-tasty breakfast with no wait! Grab a vegan Black Bean, Potato & Sausage Taco, a vegetarian Egg, Potato & Cheese Taco, or a meat-lovers mainstay Bacon & Egg Taco on a wheat tortilla with a side of Salsa to start your morning right! Or, come up to the Counter and order a custom-made taco!
Also, for just $1.99 a cup, our organic, vegan Steel-Cut Oatmeal offers a hearty, nutty bite to warm you up on these chilly mornings, and an abundance of toppings are available to make it just how you like it: organic butter, maple syrup, agave nectar, local honey, coconut milk, cow’s milk, brown sugar, raisins, sliced almonds, cinnamon and more! So come in and have a delicious breakfast in a flash at the Wheatsville Deli!
