Organic Melons!
The summer is almost here, and that means exciting things in your produce department. We've gotten our first batch of organic watermelons and cantaloupes in and they are delicious! Stay tuned as more melony goodness arrives in the next few weeks!
Mangos
Right now the mangos we've been getting are amazing. Both the larger, Tommy Atkins, variety and the smaller, atalufo, are sweet and delicious! Enjoy in hand, cut-up or with a little bit of lime and chile for a tasty seasonal treat.
Stonefruits Coming Soon
Yes! It's that time of year again. Soon we will be joyously celebrating stonefruit season with delicious and juicy peaches, nectarines, plums, plouts and apricots! I'm very excited about this, are you? Texas peaches should have a great year, which is something to look forward too.
Flowers for your Grads
We'll have plenty of flowers for your new graduates. Also, if you need some quick snacks for a graduation party, we'll have our usual assortment of cut fruit and other convenience items like pre-made Wholly Guacamole!
Wine tasting!
Casal Garcia Wine Tasting! Wednesday may 19th from 4:30 to 7:30pm we will be tasting Casal Garcia Vinho Verde. This wine is always a great deal but now it is on sale for $6.99 regularly $7.99. The wine has a citrine color and a clear appearance with a very delicate and slightly fruity aroma. On the palate this is a fresh, smooth and well-balanced wine. Ideal with fish, seafood, Asian food and some white meat. So come by the co-op and give this fabulous wine a try!
Hemp History Week!
We're taking part in Hemp History Week (May 17-23) to help make changes to laws/ policies so that US farmers can grow hemp for all of its legal and useful industrial applications. All week, we'll be highlighting the hemp foods that we carry and we'll have some sampling, too! Most importantly, you can go to the Hemp History web-site OR sign a postcard in the store urging lawmakers to let US farmers grow commercial hemp. You can watch a video HERE to learn even more!
Cheese Island
Graduation is coming up soon and we have cheese trays for your graduation party. Our cheese trays range from $9.99 for our small domestic tray, $40 for our lg. domestic cheese and fruit tray, and $60 for our gourmet cheese and fruit tray.

Mother's Day breakfast in bed?
Hello Wheatsville friends and fans!
As this post goes to "press", it's still not too late to enjoy our special Cinco de mayo hot bar. We've got all KINDS of yumminess lined up: The Wheatsville Deli is going all-out in a strictly South of the Border explosion of deliciousness! This Wednesday, May 5th, we will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with an array of tasty Tex-Mex treats on the hot bar for both vegans and omnivores! Fresh-fried tortilla chips, brown rice and soft flour tortillas will provide the base for Veggie Fajitas, Niman Ranch Beef Taco Meat, Vegan Queso, Calabacitas, organic Black Beans and more! Add to that some cool toppings of lettuce, tomato, casera salsa, sour cream and shredded Jack cheese, and you can put together a healthy, homemade Tex-Mex meal for just $7.99/lb UNTIL 7PM!
If you wanna make it yourself, we've got your produce needs covered for Cinco de Mayo! Come in for our delicious organic avocados, jalapeños, organic roma tomatoes, white onions and limes and make some quick and easy guacamole to spice up an evening at home or a celebration! In a rush? If you are looking for something even easier to whip up, try Batter Blaster ($4.99). That's right, this is pancake batter in a can. All you have to do is squirt the desired amount on a pre-heated griddle and flip it once. Clean-up is a snap-simply rinse the nozzle under warm water. This product is creating quite a buzz around the dairy cooler and I hope you will give it a try. I love them! They are a little sweeter than your typical pancake mix and they are Organic!
For an impressive and healthy dish, try layering fresh fruit and the yogurt of your choice in a glass bowl (this is great for little ones to do!).

Meat
Here is a sure fire way to make it her special day with a meal prepared with your heart and soul. Since you can't really skimp on the meal may we suggest a Niman ranch Center Cut Tenderloin steak $21.99 lb. It's a guaranteed tender and juicy steak any way you cook it. It's also a smaller portion than our larger steaks so it's suitable for a quick brunch, that isn't too heavy. Serve with fresh grilled asparagus and puree of cauliflower as a suggestion. Or serve the steak on a bed of upland cress, or any micro-green for that bistro look, alongside fresh gazpacho (can be purchased in deli) and nice sautéed green.
